Question:

Seeing as Rafa will be the #1 going into the US Open, does that mean finally Roger will face Novak in semis?

In majority of the tournaments Nadal always ends up with Djokovic in his side of the draw scheduled to meet in semis. Now Rafa is #1 :) Does that mean Federer (being #2) will meet Djokovic in semis?

  1. It annoys me u think this. Djok and Fed have bin in the same draw for 2/3 grand slams. Rafa and Djok for 1/3. Because number 2 and 3 have bin 2gether only once, i assume they will be aagin. so rog and djok will be again together for 3/4 grand slams. If anyone shud be complaining its the Roger fans!

  2. I am not exactly sure how seeding affects a player's place in the draw, but using your logic Nadal should have been on the same side of the draw as Djokovic (#2 and #3) at every Grand Slam, and this was not the case at the Australian Open or at WImbledon, where Djokovic was on Federer's sie of the draw. What is true is that #1 and #2 cannot meet before the finals, so nothing really has changed because Nadal and Federer just switched spots.

Edit: It's not like Federer and Djokovic haven't met in semis before; just look at this year's Australian Open and last year's Rogers Cup. I think you're just hoping for that scenario because Nadal would benefit from it lol.

  3. my main worry will federer reach semi final , he is in terrible form

  4. That's already happened at the australian open!!

  5. The draws haven't even been released yet, have they?

  6. It's a draw of the hat that determines where the three and four seeds are placed. Nadal will most likely be the one seed and Federer the two seed. It's guarenteed that they'll be on opposite sides of the draw. However, the rest of the sides are flipped.

Three and four seeds draw out of a hat and they too are on opposite sides of the draw guarenteed. All the thirty two seeds do that. Six and Seven draw and are on opposite sides. Seven and eight and so on.....

But actually I think the biggest worry won't have to be if someone gets Federer in the Semis, but the fact that one of them could get a red hot Murray in the quarters.

  7. Actually depends what happens in LA and New Haven prior to US Open( if rankings change. However if Fed is ranked 2nd, most likely will face Novak in semis, being they both get that far. These days, you just never know. At first I have been going with Djokovic to win it, but at this point I would not be surprised in the least if a lower seed wins or even an unseeded player.

  8. lol I bet Novak will be in Rafa's half like always.

    Edit*

    Come on now..

Novak always ends up with Rafa...

Even outside of the slams they are in the same half

And when he is seeded #1 that wont change :-P

Kinda suspicious to me but that's my opinion

  9. I think so. That'd be great and all. It is possible, since Federer was the #1 seed and had Djokovic in the semis. Then Nadal was the #2 seed in the French and had Djokovic in his half. At Wimbledon the #1 seed (Federer) had Djokovic in his half. Now to make it even and balanced, the #2 seed will have Djokovic again, and Nadal (the #1 seed) will have nobody's to play. Hooray!

  10. No because its just a random drawing from a hat that decides which half the number 3 seed will be on. If you remember djokovic was on federer's half of the draw at wimby but he lost early so we never got to see that semi. At the french he ended up of rafa's half but at the aussie he was on roger's. i hope he's on rogers side at the us open tho cuz i want rafa to have an easy road to the final and have roger and djokovic play a LONG match on super saturday so that they're tired for the final.

  11. I think feds main concern now would be actually making it to the semis rather than worrying about draws.

  12. It is most likely but not in granite yet. They have yet to do the draws, but It should be Djokovic and Federer on the same side of the draw.

The draw I think happens one week before the open.

  13. Actually, only the 1st and 2nd seeds have guaranteed spots on the draw. All the rest of the spots where seeds should be are pretty much a coin flip between two possible seeds, so it's a 50-50 shot for Federer or Nadal to have Djokovic in the semifinals. Also, it's possible for Federer to regain the 1st place spot before the U.S. Open anyway.
