Seeing what appears to be an aura due to eye strain or other types of illness, how common is it?

Only asking because I am interested, not because it is something that I am experiencing (just in case you all tell me to go to the doctor)

I suffer from migraines and see an aura every two weeks or so

I'm sure the docs would have you believe it's common. However, the alternative could be that you are seeing an aura. Would that freak you out so much?
