The ugly truth: For my 30th birthday, I bought a brand new, beautiful green Trek 820. At the time, I was too intimidated to *convincingly* articulate to the uber cool, and admittedly attractive, sales clerk (associate/bike guru) that I wanted a "girls bike". He insisted that no one rode "girls" bikes "offroading" and that I'd adjust to a boys bike..with no "kickstand". (Apparently I was to leave it carelessly flopped in the grass whilst I climbed a mountain eating kashi)
The long shameful story is that, at 5'2", I could never throw my leg over and correctly balance and ride the "boy bike"...and said boy bike hasn't been used past it's maiden voyage. Oh sure, I bought it a stand so it could languish in my hall, and it's moved 2 times to 2 homes. But I haven't grown any taller. 9 years later I have finally admitted to myself, and now to untold others, that pride was my downfall, I'm an idiot for buying it, and it needs to go. Your thoughts on pricing a brand new old bike- for shorties?
