Seeking web info on the dollar value of fossils, can anyone help? ?

I'm trying to find information on the web about fossils. Any websites that can tell me the possible dollar value of certain fossils if I were to sell them to a local rock shop/dino museum. It would also be nice if anyone knew a website where you can identify what kind of fossils you find while out rock hounding - a site that has pictures. Does anyone have any good websites they can suggest to me? It would be really helpful, thanks in advance!

  1. I hope you realize that there is no "market" for fossils.  Most are sold to small shops by individuals.  The price is what the shop is willing to pay based upon many factors:  how rare the fossil, its condition, how many are already owned by the store, etc.

    Larger finds are sold to museums, but that is probably not what you are asking about.  Here are a couple of internet links to get you going:
