  1. The only two players that are going to be truly missed are Malone & Ruutu. (Maybe Hossa, but he wasn't even a Pens for that long)

The rest like Laraque and Roberts are replaceable. So yes, they WILL be seen in the SCF in the next 5 years.

  2. Five Years... oh yeah thats plenty of time. They already have some solid players on the team and they could pick up more next year!

  3. Yes.  With Sid, Malkin and Flurey all locked up for a while, that is a strong enough core of young talent to have them in contention for years to come.  The personnel they lost does hurt, but there is always a risk when you get a "rent-a-player" for the playoffs i.e. Hossa.  If we need another come playoff time next year, there will always be teams looking to trade players of the like.  The others, while fan favs are really more role players than corner stones of a team.  New players can come in and fill in for them well enough.

One other thing to note is that the D-men have remained in tact.  That group can continue to gel and develop into an even stronger group.

So having made those points, I would say that they stand a good chance to play for the cup at least once or twice more in the next 5 years.

  4. Yes. With Malkin, Crosby, and Marc-Andre Fleury, they will be set for core players. They just need a strong team around them. Especially defense.

  5. They dominated the Eastern Conference last season and I don't think a few losses will change that.  They will have a tough time competing with the Western Conference though.

  6. i think they will. after coming so close to it last time, they'll be hungry for the win, (especially Crosby)  i think it will be a great season coming up.

  7. Yees i think they will make the playoffs i think they will win Stanley within the next three they have such a talented young team with Crosby,Malkin,Fleury,Hossa,Staal and they just aquired Matt Cooke for a 2 year contract they will go far.

  8. YES--- For the simple fact you gave a 5 year timeframe..

Sure they hemmorhaged good players this past week, but all it takes is a trade day like Tampa or Chicago had to get the barrel reloaded..

And it will be reloaded..  But no Finals in 09 I'm sorry to say..

  9. If the Pens do not sign anyone else before the start of the season, they will be lacking. But they don't need superstars, a mid-level player can shine with skill players, just like Ryan Malone had a banner year playing on a line with Malkin and Sykora. I say the will be in the finals several of the next five years,

  10. Whom did we lose that was not replacable. Malone had a great year yes but it took him about 3 or 4 years to have this one.  He was expendable.  Hossa...great player wish he would have stuck around but we got to the playoffs without him. Adam Hall was hurt most of the year. Rutuu will be missed but Cooke just got signed.  We signed up our core minus Staal which is in the works. Duprius signed who did we lose that hurt us. Laraque is old and slow. Well make it every year for the next 5 years how about that...LETS GO PENS!

  11. no=== they where lucky to get there this time/they will make the play-offs 2nd round knockout
