I have a vein disorder in my legs called DVT. In other words.. Deep vein trombosis. My doctor requires me to wear very heavy constructed pantyhose from JOBST. They aren't like super sheer make ur legs look great but more like an ace bandage on steriods but made to look sheer???? Here's my question. Im a DUDE!.... If dont wear them I could die from a blood clot... Im young and s**y. These things are like wearing long underwear. Its summmer. Can I wear shorts? Do I need to shave my legs? (u can see my hair under these) MAN o MAN... What would u think??

  1. I wouldn't wear them under shorts unless they are in black (and maybe footless) then you could get away with being trendy.

Apart from that, I would just disguise them under a pair of trousers, just not to attract attention. Most people are ignorant and you could become a target for mockery.

Good luck, I really feel sorry for you and hope that you don't live in a part of the world where it is really warm and humid. (or either you have airco)

    Cheers ;-)

  2. My girlfriend just wears them with shorts.  She is overweight and now uses a wheelchair but she just puts on the socks and goes.  If people thing less of her, that is their problem.

It's darned hard to look buff and s**y with pantyhose on that are obviously for a medical condition but decide if you want to be held hostage or just do what you need to do and want to do.

  3. d**n I'm sorry to hear that man. DVT is a horrible disease. Have they put you on anti-thrombolitics like coumadin or warferin? If not that might be a better option than the pantyhose.

  4. just get a life

  5. Could you wear footless compression tights that athletes wear

If you are going to wear shorts with nude hose shave your legs it just looks better. Good luck and God Bless!  =)

  6. Are they the 8-15 mgHg, or the higher compression. I wear Hanes Alive everyday as well as L'eggs Sheer Energy Active Support. At the website, "collants.fr" you can buy Le Bourget Jambes Actives which have the same amount of compression as Jobst. Pantyhose aren't the end of the world. I would agree with the others and shave those legs. You'll add to your summer discomfort in the process if you don't.

Also look up at Shapings.com for their support pantyhose line. Many compression styles to choose from. Best of luck to you. Your health is worth keeping it up. Hosieree.com has some good styles as well.

  7. I think you're putting image before health and that's really a bad choice.

If anyone asks, say, "Doctor's orders", but wear the things.

DVT is very serious and it can kill - you know that.

    Tackle the worst threat first.

  8. I c I c. Ok, so you are worried people will think yur a ******? Do what you want. Just know that people expect certain things when they see pantyhose. Dont wear big'ol clog hoppers tennis shoes. Wear smaller form fitting sneakers with socks that are knee high. Take the socks and scrunch them down. It just looks better. Dont wear long shorts because then they just see your calf muscles and then think your trying to hide a pantyhose fetish. Wear shorts that are above the knees or even mid thigh!!... Most people will see that you are wearing medical grade hosiery and not PANTYhose. I have the same DVT problem as you. And yes they are very hot to wear. My wife says wear the sheer ones and not black.  And yes, shave your legs!!!! Its gross seeing a man with hose and all kids of hair!!
