Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir both fine after minor knocks

Indian opening pair of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 were both involved in separate incidents that sparked off an injury scare for them on Sunday.

Gambhir was hit on his right wrist in his innings against the Australian side for the Board president’s XI while Sehwag was hit on his knee by his own Indian team-mate in the nets.

Thankfully for the Indian cricket team, Gambhir, who later visited a hospital, was discharged without any issue, while Sehwag seemed to be back to his normal and playing in the nets.

Gambhir’s incident occurred on the second day of the three-day warm-up game between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and the Board President’s XI when a ball swung into him and wrapped him on his hand. Later, Gambhir, was out to
a short ball from Australian bowler Ben Hilfenhaus.

Strangely, soon after this, doctors were called upon and kept on standby, while an ambulance was brought in. With his hand wrapped in ice, Gambhir was sent to the hospital and tests were carried out before
he was discharged.

A doctor said, "We did a MRI of his hand, but luckily there was no injury. We did not want to take any chances,"

 

In the other incident, Sehwag was hit on his knee by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ishant-Sharma-c64566. He was then taken away and received medication before he faced the media and brushed aside the topic. When asked about the injury, Sehwag
replied, “What knee?”

The Indian players practiced hard at the Mohali stadium for the first Test match whch is scheduled to begin from October 1. Two of the Indian players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and Suresh Raina, have yet to arrive in the
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant and Amit Mishra were all there and got into the Test match groove.
