Sehwag blames lack of patience for the batting collapse on the fourth day – Cricket News Update
Indian opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, on Saturday blamed the lack of patience for the batting collapse which as now left India on the verge of an imminent defeat in the third Test being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
With only a day left, India have secured a 32-run lead and are nine wickets down, putting them in a position from where it seems impossible to prevent England from winning.
"If you apply yourself on this wicket, it's not that difficult to score runs. It's Test cricket and you have to show some patience. Yes you can say that (we did not show enough patience). The key was the patience," said Sehwag after the match.
"In this series, we have not put runs on the board, especially in the last two Tests. The moment we put 500-plus, it's going to be a different ball-game. Their batsmen showed patience more than ours. They batted really well. Full credit to the way (Alastair) Cook and the others batted," he added.
Despite http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s insipid batting performance in the ongoing match, the Indian opener was adamant that the wicket was not bad to bat on and had the Indian batsmen showed some patience they would have succeeded.
"Yes we are very much disappointed. Wicket was not that bad to lose six wickets in a session. But we have to work hard to bounce back in the next game," said the batsman.
On a lighter note, the opener, who smacked 49 runs in the second innings, was optimistic enough to admit that only an act of God could save them from defeat tomorrow.
He backed his bowlers and insisted that they bowled well, but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 batting was just too good, which was the main difference between the two sides.
After getting bowled-out for 316 in their first innings, the Indians, restricting England on 523, batted for the second time, but failed to make an impact as they ended the fourth day of play with 239 on the board after having lost nine wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 was the best batsman for India as he smacked an unbeaten knock of 83 runs.
