Sehwag disappointed at missing Tendulkar’s elusive 100th century – Cricket News Update
The hard-hitting opening batsman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 scored his historic hundredth international ton in the
Asia Cup match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 last week.
"It would have been and honour to be in the team and share a dressing room when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 got that hundred against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup tournament, but I am sad to miss that," said Sehwag while speaking to media reporters on the sidelines of a promotional
event that was held to launch the website of the Delhi Daredevils, an Indian Premier League franchise.
The 33-year-old Delhi dasher was not part of the squad that toured Bangladesh to play the Asia Cup, as he was rested by the selectors on fitness grounds. Tendulkar had been stuck on 99 centuries since March last year, and he reached the milestone against
Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, last Friday, March 16, 2012. Tendulkar’s tally of 100 international tons includes 49 ODI and 51 Test centuries.
It is rumoured that Sehwag, who had a disastrous tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and the BCCI management, which eventually cost him a spot in the national team. Reports of Sehwag’s retirement have also been
making the rounds in the media of late, but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005 has rubbished any rumours of his retirement, saying nobody can force a player to retire.
"I will continue to play as long as I am enjoying the game, contributing to the team, winning games for my country,” said Sehwag when asked about his retirement plans. “Nobody can force a player to retire... it's up to an individual to decide when the right
time is for him to call it a day" he added further.
Sehwag also revealed that he is fully fit and he will lead the Daredevils in the upcoming season five of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting in Chennai on April 4, 2012.
