Sehwag makes an early departure during the tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824 – Cricket News Update
The Indians once again came under fire after the team lost its maverick batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, during the early moments of the ongoing match against the domestic English side, Northamptonshire. The fixture came as the 2 Day tour game between the both
sides, taking off today, Friday, August 5, 2011 at the County Ground, Northampton.
The practice bout took off with the Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 winning the toss and taking up batting.
The opening day’s session was brought to life as Gambhir, coupled with Indian veteran Virender Sehwag made their way to the crease, to face the Northamptonshire bowling attack, featuring Dave Burton and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Evans-c73277.
The match came as a comeback for both the batters after Gambhir returned to the crease following his elbow injury during the second Test fixture against England, at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
As for Sehwag, the player was taking up batting since his last performance with the bat earlier this year following a shoulder blade injury.
However, for the tour game, Sehwag, who was being considered as a messiah for the down trotting Indian side, was forced to exit the crease during the opening moments of the bout.
The player was declared out off a successful Leg before Wicket (LBW) appeal in the closing moments of 7th over. The player marked his return to the pavilion at a minor single digit of 8.
The loss came as a shocking dismissal for the Indian side, who had rested their much reliance on Sehwag, stating him as the probable rescuer for the team following India’s disappointing performance on the previous two Test fixtures.
Previously a lot of headlines surrounded Sehwag, prior to the veteran’s arrival in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, as famous Indian cricketing personalities quoted the batsman as saviour for the touring side as well as the messiah for the team.
However, what contradicts the fact is that initially the Indian media as well as its top notch sporting personalities made similar comments for master-blaster http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772.
Unfortunately, apart from Dravid, none shine out. As for Sehwag, the audience will have to wait and watch what the maverick has to offer in the upcoming 3rd Test game against the English hosts at Edgbaston.
