Sehwag reveals he has undergone fitness test at NCA – Cricket News Update
The out of favour Indian opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, on Tuesday revealed that he has recently undergone a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, the result of which is awaited.
The swashbuckling Indian opener, who was overlooked for the Asia Cup in March this year on fitness grounds, revealed today that his fitness was assessed by the physios at the NCA, and the report will soon be submitted to the BCCI
selection committee, before they announce the squad for the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 tour.
“I have been to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) where I have gone through fitness test,” said Sehwag while speaking to media reporters at the sidelines of a promotional event in New Delhi, where the hard-hitting Indian opener was
named as the brand ambassador of a sportswear company, Fila.
“The report of the physios will be submitted to the selection committee. Let's wait and watch,” he added further.
Sehwag was rested for the Asia Cup apparently due to a shoulder injury, but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005 shunned fitness concerns after an impressive show with the bat in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League, which started roughly two
weeks after the quadrangular one-day tournament.
Sehwag, the veteran of 96 Tests and 245 ODIs, had a commendable run in the Twenty20 competition, which saw him scoring five consecutive half centuries in the round-robin group stage of the tournament.
About the endorsement he signed today, the 33-year-old right-handed top order batsman said that it was an honour for him to be associated with Fila.
“It is a proud moment to be associated with Fila. The association will go high,” said Sehwag, who became the first Indian brand ambassador of Fila. “It is a great honour to be associated with a company older than our independence."
“It is a great honour to be associated with a brand with athletes like Michael Schumacher,” he added further.
Replying to a question regarding the increasing involvement of cricketers in endorsements, the Indian opener said, "Cricket career is a short one and I would like to do as many endorsements as possible in this span."
