Sehwag uncomforable against short ball – Johnson
Ahead of the series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and India, where both the teams promise to provide some quality cricket to the cricket fans, Mitchell Johnson has identified the gaping hole in Virendar Sehwags batting. The batsman is wary against short balls, early
in the innings and is not very comfortable playing against them. Australia had a brilliant start in the opening warm up match against an Indian side, where both the openers managed to score a century a piece. The side are currently batting on 499 for 6, with
three tons to their credit with another one coming from the bat of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-North-c1982.
"Last time when we were over here we came out and he was hitting good balls for four or six, you look up at the scoreboard and he's almost 50," Johnson said. "Sehwag is someone we can bowl a lot of short balls to. I don't think he's too confident with the
short ball early."
The Kangaroos are not short of bowling options for the tournament. With several pacers including Doug Bollinger who is currently on Champions league T20 duty, Ben Hilfenhaus, Peter George and not to mention the all rounder Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326. Shane Watson also
agreed that the short ball tends to yield significant results against a strong Indian batting line up.
Australia have come in to the tour with two front line spinners – Nathan Hauritz and Steven Smith – however it is most likely that they will be supported from some part timers including Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, Simon Katch and Marcus North, all of whom boast a 5
wicket haul in Tests. North, recently managed a match winning performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 by taking his career best figures, and Katich who bowls left arm spin boasts a career best figures of 6 for 65.
The tour against India will be a very important one to set the tone for the Australian side before they head in to the World Cup 2011. It will also give them useful info on how to tackle India lest the two sides meet again in a world cup contest and how
to find their rhythm and form. Australia currently sits at number 4 in Test rankings and they will most likely be wanting to improve their rankings by finishing strongly against a resilient Indian batting line up. However http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 might find themselves out of
bowling options against a good Australian side.
