Seimone Augustus, Sheryl Swoopes, Candice Dupree: Top WNBA players from August 28 games
Five games took place in Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) on Sunday, August 28, 2011. Here is an overview of some of the noticeable performances on the night:  
Minnesota Lynx vs. San Antonio Silver Stars 
Seimone Augustus
Seimone Augustus tallied a game high 20 points in Minnesota Lynx’s 72-61 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars at AT&T Center. Augustus scored 16 of her points in the first half as Connecticut held a two-point lead at halftime. The 27-year-old guard forward also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists. She went 10 for 18 from the field. 
Maya Moore
Maya Moore recorded a double-double in the fifth consecutive victory of Lynx. Moore scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in more than 33 minutes. Rookie Moore was 7 for 16 from the floor, including 3 for 8 from downtown.
Roneeka Hodges
Roneeka Hodges led San Antonio with 12 points and four rebounds. The player pinned 4 of 8 three-pointers in the sixth straight defeat of Silver Stars.  
Tulsa Shock vs. Connecticut Sun 
Sheryl Swoopes
Sheryl Swoopes punctuated 22 points, including 14 of them in the crucial second half, and pulled down seven rebounds in Tulsa Shock’s 83-72 victory over Connecticut Sun at BOK Center. The veteran guard forward hit 9 for 17 from the field in the second consecutive victory for Tulsa.
Tina Charles
Tina Charles recorded a double-double in Connecticut’s loss that snapped their two game winning streak.  The reigning rookie of the year added 21 points and 10 rebounds in more than 32 minutes of action. The centre player also dished out three assists and blocked two shots for her team.  
Phoenix Mercury vs. Washington Mystics
Candice Dupree
Candice Dupree chipped in 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dealt out three assists in Phoenix Mercury’s 86-79 win over Washington Mystics at Verizon Center. Dupree 10 for 14 from the floor and 7 for 7 from free throw line to snap Mercury’s two-game losing streak.
Crystal Langhorne
Crystal Langhorne registered a double-double in the eighth consecutive loss for the Mystics. The 24-year-old forward contributed 27 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. The Willingboro High School’s product went 12 for 24 from the field.  
Chicago Sky vs. New York Liberty 
Sylvia Fowles
Sylvia Fowles added 17 points and 14 rebounds in Chicago Sky’s 74-73 victory over the New York Liberty at Allstate Arena. The two-time WNBA All-Star also blocked for difficult shots of Liberty. The 6 ft 6 in forward player was 8 for 12 from the field in Chicago’s second consecutive win.
Plenette Pierson
Plenette Pierson led all scorers with 19 points and grabbed six boards in the defeat of New York. The player hit 9 for 13 from the floor in more than 26 minutes on the floor.  
Seattle Storm vs. Los Angeles Sparks 
Sue Bird
Sue Bird scored 12 points, including a pair of game-winning free throws with 1.6 seconds remaining, in Seattle Storm’s 65-63 triumph over Los Angeles Sparks at Key Arena. The two-time WNBA Champion also added five steals, seven rebounds and four assist in the fourth consecutive victory of her team.
Candace Parker
Candace Parker had 19 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and two steals in Sparks’ second straight loss. Parker hit 7 for 13 from the floor and 5 for 5 from the line.
