Seizures question?

my husband drinks 3 pills of 500 to prevent the seizures and my question is!! we are trying to conceive for a baby and we have been trying since i got married we have been trying for 5 months does this pills is preventing for me to get pregnant??(depakote er)

I would look at the bottle to see if it has any side effects but other than that, i think you're just unlucky.

well considering valproic acid (depakote ER) has been associated with birth defects in children of women who have taken it while pregnant you might want to check with  the doctor to see if the same is true of men taking the medication and impregnating their partner.

Well I took depakote when I was younger, and I was on it for about 18 months. If you want to wait until he is off the depakote and try to conceive, you could. You could also ask your doctor if depakote has any side effects around getting pregnant.

My nephew is on that drug and we were never told about side effects like that--we were told he might be a little hyper and lack attention.
