Sekar reveals Broad concerns – Cricket News Update
England bowling coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465’s lacklustre form in the first two Tests against India, in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, is a cause of concern for him as well as for the ECB selectors.
"It’s a bit of an issue. He’s not bowled as we’d have liked. But he's not the first bowler to come over here and find it hard," Saker said of Broad's form during a media encounter here in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, on Tuesday.
Broad, 26, has become an integral part of the England team across all the three formats, with his knack to claim a bulk of wickets and score some valuable runs down the order. However, he has been way below par on the ongoing tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 thus far, and is at the risk of losing his place in the side, as Steve Finn prepares to make a comeback in Kolkata next week.
Having taken no wickets in the two Tests played so far, the gangling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 pacer has been down on pace as well. Besides his struggling form, Broad has suffered from illness too, which has probably contributed to his bowling woes.
"Stuart's not a great yet. He’s to learn ways to become great. If he gets the next Test he has to be ready for it," Sekar added further.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 bowling coach reckoned Broad was down on confidence as well, and hoped to help the lanky seamer regain his lost confidence over the next few days.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harold-William-Stephenson-c61707 Finn would probably have played in all the four Tests had he been fit. But the thigh injury, sustained during the opening tour game last month, has kept him out of the first two matches. However, Sekar hoped the lanky paceman proves his fitness this week and fills the second seamer’s spot in the squad.
"I've just got my fingers crossed he gets through; if he does, we can make a decision," said the visiting bowling coach.
"He's got that x-factor, a bit of pace, height that always means you could get variable bounce over here - so his name will be bandied around for sure for that second seamer's spot," he added further.
With the series levelled at 1-1, the third Test gets underway in Kolkata on December 5.
