i have had lizards before [leopard geckos] and i was thinking about getting another one. The problem is i dont know which breed of lizard would be good for me. I still consider myself a beginner since i havent had that much experience. I dont want another leopard gecko. Anyways, my question is, What is a good breed for beginners that isnt a leopard gecko?

P.S. sorry if this is jumbled. Im not good at organizing my thoughts today.

  1. crested geckos, fat tailed geckos, bearded dragons or blue tongue skinks . one of these would make a nice next step.

  2. bearded dragon for sure.

  3. How about Green Anoles? I think they require a bit more than Leopard Geckos, but they are still good for beginners. Bearded Dragons may be another option as well, although they require larger tanks. (Probably 55 gallons as a minimum for an adult)

There may be other Geckos that are for beginners.

Here are two sites that have a bit of info on other lizards: http://www.thepetjungle.com/lizards.html

    Good luck. ^^

  4. a bearded dragon would be a good choice for you - they are extremely friendly and very curious. they are easy to tame, and fairly easy to maintain their habitat. the main differences you would notice btwn a beardie and the leopard gecko is that beardies like to be handled more, and you would need to feed him veggies (not a neccessity for the geckos)

I saw an answer that said green anole - those are more of a "look at me" pet, not good for handling, as they are very fast and are great escape artists. stay away from lizards that get bigger than 2-3 feet, they need bigger habitats, more time, and are more susceptible to health issues.
