Australian selectors back out-of-form Michael Clarke
Australian selectors have stated that they are impressed by Michael Clarke’s captaincy in the ongoing One-day International series against England, which the hosts lead by 3-0. The National selectors have come out in support of their ODI captain, and they are excited about his dynamic and astute leadership qualities.
Greg Chappell, the member of Australian selection panel, while talking to the media said, "We have a lot of reasons to support him at this time. We've been delighted with his leadership. His captaincy in the first three games has been excellent. His strategies, bowling changes, everything that he's done - not least winning matches - has been good, and I'm sure that will only be good for him.''
However, Clarke’s batting has been problematic lately, as he struggled in the Ashes series scoring 193 runs at a grim average of 21 with a sole half century. He has continued his bad form in the fifty-over series as well, collecting average scores of 36, 10 and 9 in the first three games.
Despite Michael’s faltering batting line, Chappell went on to say, "Many wanted Mike Hussey out of the team, we decided to back his ability to perform at the top level and we were repaid in spades by his performances in the Ashes series. We are pretty confident that given the same opportunities Michael Clarke will repay us the same way. I believe he has got through to the end of the World Cup to sort it out and we are confident he well and truly will have it sorted before then."
The Australian skipper was pleased to hear positive comments from his compatriot selector. Despite struggling for form, he has gathered the support of a number of Australian cricket fans for his directional leadership. He has been going through a rough patch in his cricketing career; however, he has fulfilled the expectations of his nation during his short tenure as Captain Australia.
He has been working hard in the nets and is hopeful that his toil will pay favourable dividends in upcoming matches. Michael is confident enough that things will turn around for him, and he is just one good knock away from coming back into form.
Chappell has suggested http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 to play with a free state-of-mind and to start believing in himself. The Australian legend said that the real problem lies in the batsman’s mind. He should get rid of it and play with a positive mindset.
The fourth encounter between England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is going to be played in Adelaide on January 26, 2011. The home side, who is leading the series by 3-0, will be looking to seal the series by winning at the Adelaide Oval.
