Selectors keep faith in Perth Test's winning combination - Cricket News Update
Australian selectors, keeping faith in the victorious squad from Perth, announced an unchanged 12-man squad for the fourth and final Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, starting at the Adelaide Oval on January 24, 2012.
Having already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-Test series, the hosts are aiming on a 4-0 Indian whitewash and are being heavily regarded as favourites to achieve the target.
Australian coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969, backed the struggling number three batsman, Shaun Marsh, to come to Adelaide. The South African has taken a lot of positives from Marsh’s 11-run cameo at Perth last week.
"The stars have aligned for us the whole series, except for in the number three position," said Arthur speaking to the media reporters on Tuesday,.
"I saw signs of him coming back, I saw signs of his movements being a lot crisper, his weight transferral was a lot better, he looked really good at a point. Hopefully Adelaide is the catalyst for him," the Australian head coach hoped.
Whilst the captain and coach are likely to maintain faith in the struggling number three Shaun Marsh, it is being speculated that the hosts might make a change to their four pronged pace attack that led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to an innings and 37-run win at Perth last
week. Spin bowler Nathan Lyon, who missed the third Test in favor of young pacer Mitchell Starc, is likely to resume his place as the only specialist spinner on the Australian roster.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-John-Inverarity-c85980, Cricket Australia Chairman of selectors, said that after finishing the Perth Test within three days, the fast bowlers have enough time to rest, so none of the pacers would be left on this criteria; however, he did make it clear that Lyon
will be returning to the playing XI at Adelaide.
"A spin bowler has always been a priority in Test matches at Adelaide Oval and it is very likely that Nathan Lyon will replace one of the other bowlers in the final 11 for the fourth Test," said Inverarity.
