Selectors squabble over Fawad Alam selection

some PCB officials for not including Imran Farhat in the squad. The same man chose not to attend a meeting called for the preliminary selection of the World Cup 2011 squad, even though he was present at the National Cricket Academy where the meeting was held
for more than three hours.

"I didn't attend the selection committee meeting, the reasons for which I have made clear to the board chairman," Illyas said.

Sources within the PCB have stated that the delay in the finalization and selection of the preliminary squad was mainly due to the fact that some senior players have some impending issues that need to be resolved. There have been
indications and news reports that Kaneria, Akmal and Shoaib Malik have not been given clearance by the International Cricket Council to play in the World Cup.
"The selectors still have mixed feelings about not selecting Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Malik and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 in the preliminary squad and are awaiting a final meeting with the board chairman on Wednesday," a source in the PCB said.
Waqar Younis, the coach of the Pakistan cricket team also stated that he would want those players who are only focused on playing cricket to be part of the World Cup squad. He admitted that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket is going through troubled
times however it is necessary that only those players who are not focusing on other things should be included in the 2011 World Cup squad. He said that he was satisfied with the attitude of many senior players who are part of the training camp in Lahore, since
their attitude was having a positive effect on the junior players.
