‘Self-belief’ can help Napoli overcome Manchester City in the Champions League, insists Lippi
Former Italian national team manager, Marcello Lippi, has advised his former employers, Napoli, to believe in themselves in the UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City.
The Azzurri will travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on the English giants in the first-leg of the group stage clash on September 14, 2011. Napoli were drawn against City, Bayern Munich and Villarreal in a group everyone considers
as a group of death. The Italian giants have qualified for the group stages of the competition for the first time in 21 years and are definitely looking to make their stay in Europe a prolonged one.
Lippi understands that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 face a stern test in their return to European football but he has urged them to remain positive and approach the game with confidence. The tactician is happy with the transfer activity Napoli have
made during the summer and believes that they can challenge the best in the business.
The former Juventus manager believes that their inexperience of playing in European competitions can be tackled by the enthusiasm and determination of their players on the pitch.
Talking to the reporters Lippi said, "Undoubtedly, it is the most difficult group of all but Napoli must have faith in their chances. The club have reinforced well in the transfer window and are growing. Their inexperience at this
level can be countered with the right amounts of enthusiasm and ruthlessness.”
The 63-year-old is highly impressed with the Manchester City attack force but believes that Napoli’s attacking unit is equally strong.
"City's attackers are very strong but Napoli's strike-force is equal to them. Manchester City are a great team, leading the Premier League, but Napoli at this time are also considered a great squad."
Lippi is predicting an exciting game and wants to see alot of goals in the match. Manchester City have qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history and already look like a threatening force in the competition.
