Self empoyed crier work in the uk?

has anybody got any advice on doing this, i need a flexible job that will fit in with university study, 36 so actual insurance not a problem . what are the earning expectations and for insurance quotes what are the usual ammounts that you have to have as goods in transit cover, ie limits that are required?
