  1. Cutting yourself in any way is a sign of severe depression, wanting of attention,   It doesn't mean someone wants to commit suicide because if they did, they would cut their wrist. These people need help.  Cutting is very serious, but the cutting of feet, I never heard of anyone doing that.  I would think it would prevent someone from walking properly.  that's got to be painful.  If you know who is doing this, talk to them, try to get help for them.

  2. I've never heard of people cutting their feet, but often people will do it in a place where it can't be seen/noticed by others, so that could be a possible reason for doing it on their feet. Self-harm is not always a "cry for attention" and it's unfair for people to say that.

  3. there is no "normal" place to cut yourself. a lot of people cut in a place that cant be seen.

however on the bottom of your feet must be painful as you walk around on them all day.

i would suggest maybe not cutting your feet, try some other techniques to replace self harm -

get an ice cube and rub it against the soles of your feet instead,

ping an elastic band against your wrist,

draw on yourself with red pen,

write down what is causing you to need to cut and then rip up or burn the piece of paper.

i think you need to see your doctor though, they may be able to refer you for counselling. good luck x*x

  4. its not normal at all and i cant find i n my dictionary word to that describe that but  mental illness

  5. no that does not sound normal

  6. everyone is different most people go for the arms i guess as a cry for help its the most noticable.

feet is more personal and a sign of deeper issues than  just a simple cry for help.

where ever your doing it be careful and seek help in the real world from your friends family and GP

  7. well i'm not sure, but i cut round my ankles, i've also tried cutting my feet but it doesn't work, so i don't know how you've done it really! i don't think there's something that's "normal". you can self harm anywhere i think. i do it any place where it can't be seen. hope that helped =]

  8. Basically yes, self harmer's will do it any where, some are ashamed so pick places that are hard to spot.

People, why make such stereo typical assumptions, think before you comment, 'It's not normal' must take ages to come up with that. Maybe that's why it's called a mental health problem?

  9. There is no normal. Wherever you cut, it doesn't matter really. People do cut wherever on their body. Don't feel bad about anything to do with this, and try not to worry.

I'm not going to go on about self harm, because I'm sure you'll have heard it all before, and being an ex-cutter, I know whats it feels like. But you can get through this. I have, and so can you. Believe in yourself, because I believe in you.

I've cut all over my body to be honest, feet included. Neck, arms, chest, stomach, hands, hips, thighs, legs, ankles and feet. So don't worry about exactly where you cut, but why, and how you can stop, and if not stop, at least cut least or less deep.

There is a lot of support at the self harm related forum: http://www.recoveryourlife.com. Everyone there is so lovely, they wont judge you, and it really restores your faith in humanity and yourself.

  10. when it comes to self harm there is no right or wrong way of doing it as long as the marks remain for an hour or more then its self harm

  11. Ive cut my feet before but that was because I was cutting a whole bunch of veins...

  12. self harming can be anywhere, so feet yeh can be normal in a way i self harmed before and i did it on my ankle on my hands anywhere where it is really sensitive specially when it is recovering you move and it all rips open again.

  13. i appreciate how brave you are being just by talking about self harming. i did for 3 years before even my best friends or family new,

cutting your feet isnt weird at all i used to find any place no one would see and at my worst would burn my upper legs by heating metal rods under the grill. you need help though and as hard as it may be that means telling someone so you can find the reason your feeling this way,

all i can say is hang in their, as corney as it sounds you won't feel like this forever and help will come but you've gotta let people in ,

hope you get the help you need x

  14. No it isn't normal

  15. well most people don't admit they self harm or even where they do so we don't really have a way of knowing what is "normal"

its just more unusual because not many people have heard of it.

i've known people who have self harmed on their wrist, back, knuckles and legs... i haven't come across feet but im sure that some people do. the bottom of your foot is probably a lot more painful aswell so maybe thats another reason for why its not as common.

    xxxxxx

  16. ive never heard of anyone cutting their feet for self harm.. so no i dont think its normal for self harm

  17. Self harming isnt normal full stop. I dont think teenagers should be sympathy for it, just copying some trend which will burn out soon enough.
