  1. I would suggest that you cross it off neatly and write your name and take it to the DMV like that. But the DMV is very strict with stuff like that. If they don't accept it they will give you a new form to fill out. Don't worry it's not a big deal, from my understanding you can drive the car as long as you carry the title and proof of insurance with you that way if you get pulled over you can let the officer know that you are in the process of doing the transfer of ownership. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE SURE CALL THE DMV. YOU CAN GET THEIR PHONE # ONLINE.

  2. You certainly can drive his car with his permission while he is waiting to get the duplicate title so he can sign it in the correct place.  Or, if you go to the DMV, they may allow him to sign where is says "print"--wouldn't hurt to see.  If not, he has to go there anyway to apply for a duplicate.

  3. i had this same problem with my brother and what we had to do is both go to the secretary of state with our id's and they fixed it there with no problem. If he can't make it they told me to ask him to make a letter saying that he sold the car to you  with the vin # & make and model and copy his ID to it and that would be just as good. I live in illinois but you can always call your dmv for more info. Hope this helps!
