Question:

Selling Lowe while high (no pun intended)? Thoughts?

Team A is dealing James Loney and Derek Lowe to Team B for C.J. Wilson and Lastings Milledge. This is a standard 5x5 keeper league. Team A, upon acquiring Wilson would have 4 closers on staff (and potentially 5 if R. Soriano gets back into the mix with Mike Gonzalez). Team B is in last place and clearly needing to build for next year and would have Joey Votto and Loney as long-term options at first base. Team A hasn't much use for Milledge with Kemp, Hamilton, Damon and Ludwick as outfielders, but could be used as future trade bait to add starting pitching (closers could be trade bait as well). Any thoughts on making the deal?

  1. Team B clearly wins this trade, CJ wilson has proven to me that he sucks and he blows half of his saves, and milledge is a good player, don't get me wrong, but he hits for the worst lineup in the MLB so his value is not very much, while derek lowe is doing well this season, and loney will be a great keeper for years to come. Good Luck.

  2. Haha, no pun intended. Well, I think Team A can still get better players. Loney is a pretty good first baseman and Milledge is almost a nobody. Although Lowe will probably get roughed up a few more times, Wilson's not the best closer to get in return. Milledge won't be too good of trade bait, because he really hasn't done too much this season. Team B receives a lot, for now, and will need Loney to cover for Votto when needed. Maybe a different closer, a better one, than Wilson will make this deal better.
