Selling a saddle?

I'm selling one of my saddles, its a nice jumper saddle (no kneerolls or thighblocks), its a crosby, atleast 5 years old. But in great condition, it just doesnt fit my 17.3 hand TB gelding at all and it doesnt work for eventers. Where should i sell it? Its not going cheap either, like $850+.

Any help on where i should post the sale ad?

  1. I've always had great luck through Ebay.com and Equine.com .  That's one big gelding!  I have a 16.2hh Walker and I can't imagine handling something bigger than him.

    Best of luck!

  2. well, i would find a bullitain board at a local stable! or market in your town. I tried to sell an elliptical on eBay, and i ended up spending $10 trying to get it to sell, and it never did. So i put an add on a bulletin board and i sold it the next day.

Yes i do think that's a good deal! Be sure to mention that when you sell it!

    Good luck!

  3. you could put it on ebay i put my stuff on sale there all the time and buy with paypal its worth trying

  4. Personally I think your saddle is over priced. I have an Albion K2 Event saddle, cost over £1200 new. If I was to sell it I'd be lucky for £400 and it is in excellent condition, and much younger than your saddle.

As for advertising, try putting an ad up in your local tack/feed shop.

  5. Kijiji is free and horsetopia

  6. Try Ebay. You can put a reserve on it so that if the bids don't reach that amount then you aren't losing.

  7. You didn't tell us what model your Crosby is.  If it's a prix de nations, then you'd better look on ebay and get an idea as to what they are selling for realistically.

I just found one (Prix de Nations) that sold there for $355.00 in pristine condition.  The one still being bid on, is going for the SAME amount.

  8. There are a range of sites but I would go with either

    TradeMe (www.trademe.co.nz)

    eBay

    That Horse (www.thathorse.com)

It depends where you live though - and what sites are appropriate for your area
