Selling an american brand in a foreign country?

i'm planning on starting a retail store in a country in europe where i want to sell american brand name clothes for men/women (ex: affliction, true religion, etc. ). how do i go about doing this? how do department stores do it? does anyone have any idea?

Do you mean a "bricks and mortar" store or an online business?

Have you looked into all the issues and processes involved for starting any business (licences, tax, premises, bank and card merchant accounts etc) in that country before you even think of going into the import business as well, unless you have recent experience?
