Selling insurance in two different states?

Question

Me and my husband live in Iowa.He is liscensed to sell insurance here. He has been offered a job selling AFLAC insurance. They say he has to get a Nebraska State Resident License. Can he get one and still live in Iowa?

No, because he has to have a residence in that state.

when he goes to DMV to change his address, they will ask him for proof of residency within Nebraska

yes.  he will hold a non resident license for Nebraska and a resident license for Iowa.  a lot of states are reciprocal states which means he would not have to retest in Nebraska just fill out the application and submit it with payment.  you can call Nebraska's insurance commisson office to find out.  I did this when i moved from NC to SD.  its very simple.

In order to get a resident license, you need to be a resident of that state.  You can only be a resident agent in ONE state.  All other states, you have to have a NONresident license.

You only get a resident license for the state you're a resident in.  He would get a nonresident license to sell in a state he doesn't live in.

I do business in 17 states and although that's not one of them, I've never heard of such a thing.

I would assume there is a miscommunication as he would need to get a NON-resident license if you live in Iowa.  I think what they are communicating is the fact that some states allow your Iowa license to suffice as a license in another state while other states require you to go through the licensing process specific to that state.  I would assume from what you are saying that Nebraska requires you to go through their licensing process, but you would get a non-resident license for NE.
