Question:

Selling on Etsy and using photographs of my work?

I would like to sell my handmade items on Etsy. When creating photographs of my stenciled items, can I use photos of my past work when creating the seller page, or should it only be items which are for sale? I'm new to the site, so all of the items I plan on selling are works in progress.

  1. For the actual listings, it can be a finished product that is identical to the one they will get, but it's best if they can see THE one they will get.

But to be honest, Etsy does not advertise, so the only customers you get are the other crafters who sell there. I sell my stuff on my own website and it does very well, though I made sure I am selling something that people would not be able to easily make on their own, and that they cant find anywhere else.

  2. The photos need only to be a valid representation of your work.  You could footnote the page by stating sale is limited by availability.  There is no way you could possibly keep the photos up to date with your sales when you get busy.

Good luck with your new venture!
