Question:

Selling on amazon.com - they are keeping my money- why?

i have recently opened an amazon account and have sold an item , they have paid through amazon payments . I have tried withdrawing the funds to bank and it wont let me , it says i have to wait almost two weeks but yet they still expect me to post the item without giving me the funds to do so

the item is rather large and will cost about £12 or more to send , the buyer has also asked for special delivery which will cost even more and i dont have much money this week

is this normal for amazon not to release funds for 14 days - i can find nothing in their faqs and guidelines , why do they do this? surely they should give you your money once goods paid for and they dont charge the buyer enough postage either , i think he paid about £4 postage not nearly enough

i just want to know why they are holding my money

  1. yes, it is normal.

don't worry about it, you will get your money

Since you opened a new account, it takes a while to verify and what not.

I forgot the exact reason, but this happened to me when I opened an Amazon account.

Any further problems just contact them, Amazon is a trustworthy site.

Note:  They charge a fee for selling products online.

  2. I'm not sure why they're holding your money but if the buyer has only paid you £4 postage, don't spend £12 sending it or you're stupid!

if the postage is £4, that means it can be sent for that amount so don't spend a penny more, and e-mail the buyer that if they complain.

  3. It is standard Amazon policy to only pay out on certain days. I think the next payout day is the 21st or 22nd of this week (at least it is for my account) you agreed to this when you agreed to the terms and conditions.
