If you posted something to someone who paid via paypal for an item that was never recieved would you be supportive of their attempts to claim money back via the buyer protection policy or would you be narky and suggest they were implying you hadn't posted it?

  1. As a buyer you have very low chances. But if you have sent it via RECORDED POST, then you may have some chances not before.

eBay is not a paradise for BUYER.. sorry....

  2. They are quite within their rights to do this as you are the seller and have to prove delivery, always send your goods by recorded delivery because paypal require proof of posting and this covers you from scammers. Ebay has gone down hill since the new rules and they have made it easier for the buyer to pull a fast one .

  3. Neither, I would just state the facts on the Paypal dispute form.

Please tell me you sent it recorded delivery?!

Edit: thats OK then. As a buyer I have won every Paypal dispute I have raised and as  a seller lost those when i didnt send via recorded. Let them be narky, they only have so many days to mess you around before paypal will make a decision.

  4. I too have bought something of ebay which has still not arrived 3 weeks later, I have opened a paypal dispute which is still waiting to be reviewed by Paypal, the seller has provided a tracking number for royal mail but I tried in on line and its not a genuine number,

I run a number of businesses including selling online if a customer has a complaint we always resolve the complaint straight away but this prat has said I'm trying to scam him, I bought over £800 worth of items on the same day and he is the only one I have had a problem with

Iv read loads of blogs and forums regarding this issue because its the first problem Iv had and they all say they always rule in favour of the buyer,

  5. These situations can be tricky, but personally, I would look back at the buyer's feedback to see if they had made these type of claims before and if they had a history of 'bad' transactions.  E-bay always advise both buyers and sellers to try to settle things amicably before going through the buyer protection policy, but if a solution could not be reached, then a seller would really have no option but to abide by the buyer protection policy.  As a seller, I think I would be a bit annoyed about it, but I supposed we have to accept that mistakes are made (quite often by the Royal Mail)  and make sure that I got proof of postage each time I dispatched something.
