  1. Carnations are a better idea. You make more profit and no thorns to work with. Try to have a presale so you get money up front and a better idea of how many to buy.

  2. you could probably work out a deal with a local place.  Ask them to set back a certain number of roses for a set price.  you should set up in front of a busy store and sell them that day.  I would probably also add a teddy bear or something like that...good luck

  3. Wow, the first person who replyed made this seem, alot more complicated then it needs to be. Here's my input: My high school has done and is doing this for valentines day this year. We call it a rose-a-gram, students or teachers, pretty much whomever pay to send out a rose with a message to their secret crush or their girlfriend/boyfriend, they do this before valentines day, order and sign up for them, and then on Valentines Day we deliver them to the students or the person that is going to recieve the rose.

I think that you should set up a table or place and take orders for the roses before valentines day, like a week prior to get larger interest. Also before so that people, especially guys dont have to worry about them on the day off, since well they would probably get this and something more extravagent for their special someone.

Now, you can sell just roses or make a special message like we do.This takes a bit of work, especially if you make them by hand, but i think that more people would buy them with the tags. If not a message like "be mine" or "i love you", if its too much work for you, then just make name tags,or buy them like cute colored ones at the craft store and add a ribbon and wah-la...

The roses you preorder since you dont wanna be stuck without roses for your fundraiser, but shouldnt actually pick up them up untill your ready to assembel the tags, roses, ribbon, or if you want cute messages.I would say a day or too prior to vlaneitnes day, unless you have time to assmble them day off. Remember to ask the florist or whomever you are getting the roses from about how you should keep and store the roses, so they dont die or freeze.

Oh if you wanna make the cards, you can always get construction paper, dollies and glitter or something like that and make em'. I think handmade looks great, if you have time.

Also you could offer different varrieties for people to choose as in pink and red roses and different cards or tags. You could also offer an anonomous option, for people to send the roses without their names attached.

This fundraiser is flexible so you could do it at churches, schools, and pretty much anywhere as long as you know were to deliver the roses with messages.

Instead of the cards, you can also offer a small bag of candy with ribbon attached, or a small scented candle (tea light) preferably since you dont want huge candles.

About ordering the roses, call around to bigger stores like costco and even small gorcery stores like safeway or something region known. Usaully stay away from florists since they charge more for the same product. Our school is getting the cheapest but high quality roses from a local grocery store, and ask for a discount and your case, they may donate something to help you out.

  4. Hello,

    Fundraising yes, not roses though.

Ok think about this, buy the roses now and you will have to freeze them or whatever to keep them fresh or they die.

This is even if you can find them for sale by a whole seller who has not sold them all already, which I am sure you can do.

Then you have to have a license in most areas to sell in a public place.

You will have to find a territory which is not taken by others doing the same thing. Some people make a living at this and get rather cranky when another tries to take there food money.

Then you need  volunteers, and these people need to show up! Try to get double if not three times the people needed, for people do not show up.

See what I am getting at? A lot of work to do this with a living thing such as roses.

Find a drop shipper for plants/roses if you would like. But to find a good drop shipper is hard.

Take orders and deliver them if you can. This would make more sense since you would not have the flowers in your care for long. So this cost/headache  would not be there for having them sitting around for a while. You would have the cost of gas, then you need the people to deliver as well as  people to take orders.

Before any of this get a supplier (someone with roses). It might be to late this year? You can try though.

You might want to do the candy bar thing or something that is not living. There are places just for fund raising, all you need is your numbers and or your schools information to get the price for fund raising. Make sure all your paper work is done....

    Good luck have fun :0)
