Selling used boat in WA to Canadian citizen?

What do I need to know, do, iorder for all to go smoothly for both parties?

  1. the Canadian (purchaser) will have to register the boat in Canada and pay GST. The seller will have to sign the agreement (so the Canadian can have a proof that the boat was purchased legally (not stolen) and also price (for GST calculation).


  2. Is the canuck coming to WA to pick-up the boat? I'm not totally sure, would go down to licensing and ask around--would grab the form to release liability and a bill-of-sale to complete. I am thinking its the buyer's responsibility to transfer the title, license and insure the rig once back in the great white north, eh?

    I bought a boat from a WA resident and I am an ID resident--didnt make any difference on his end of the deal--just filled out the release of liability, signed the title and complete a bill-of-sale. I dunno what kind of taxes the canadians are looking at...
