  1. yes it is illegal

has it been done sure the car is stripped and then quartered

but this isn't the 70's and it is really easy to spot and find who has transfered the vin

part it out and then scrap it handing the title over with the car

    goodluck

  2. I don't know of any junk yards that would buy a wrecked/junk car without the vin plate and title. The police check all the time for those items of cars in the junk yards to make sure they haven't been stolen.

  3. you cant legally do it ,its against the law now days to do that on any car, they have changed the rules on all of that in the past few years, technically the car that the numbers would be put on would be considered stolen, good luck.

  4. I have seen this practice on eBay where someone has a VIN from a highly sought after vehicle. They sell it to someone who intends to use it on a "restoration" to increase it's value. This is definitely ILLEGAL. You need to surrender the vin plate and title to the scrapper to make the transaction legal.

  5. yes it is  ilegal just as it would be to use it on another car
