Ok, I dont believe I'm wasting points on this.

Someone on IRC has said that if you crash in a car without your seat belt on the airbags wont go off. They said this was only true in Audi and Mitsubishi.

Every car I can think of the air bags go off no matter what...Anyone back this up?

  1. You made me very curious as to whether this could happen or not. I scoured every Audi & Mitsi website I could find & I can't find any proof that the airbag will not deploy if you don't wear your seatbelt.

  2. Who ever told you that is full of what inflates the air bag.

  3. I have an Audi.  That's just ridiculous.  You are suppose to use the seat belt WITH the air bag to get the FULL protection.  But that does not mean that without the seat belt, it is better to just slam into steering wheel.

    Good luck...

  4. Not wearing your seat belts have nothing to do with the airbags going off.

  5. yeah. if you crash in a car without your seat belt on the airbags wont go off. riiiiight.

Didn't your mom teach you that not everything you read in IRC it true?

Wait! No! What she said that not everything you read on the internet it true.

No! That's wrong also. Mom said that not everything you read on the wall in a public toilet is true.

    Isn't it all the same?

How much do you believe that you read in those places? What are you reading now? Do you believe it?

    Audi and Mitsubishi?

I'd believe the Audi is like that -- probably not supposed to be, but Audis have their problems. They even shift themselves into Reverse by themselves and run down people!

Mitsubishi? Didn't they make the little airplanes that the Japanese Imperial Army used to get us in WWII at Pearl Harbor? They made those airplanes, called the 'Zero', to dive bomb us throughout the war.    Kamikaze!  Now they're messing with our airbags!

Didn't your mom teach you that not everything you read.....

  6. I do know that once on my Honda Civic, a sensor switch was faulty in my seatbelt connection, and a light stayed on in the dash. The mechanic said it had something to do with the airbag system and braking sensor from the seatbelt pressure in a potential crash..

My question to you is.............WHY WOULD YOU EVER CHOOSE NOT TO WEAR A SEATBELT?.

Many rebels die for their cause.................

  7. I tried looking this up and found no information about it.  So, I highly doubt it is true.

That being said, the amount of force needed to set off an airbag, in most newer cars, is different depending on if you are wearing your seatbelt or not.  The airbags will go off with less force if you are not wearing them because, in those accidents, the seatbelt would be enough to protect you.  Hence, the airbags don't go off if you are wearing it.
