Question:

Semi-Aggressive Salt Water Fish

I am planning on starting a 100 (most likely 175) gallon salt water tank. I am planning on putting in a Volitan Lionfish, Snowflake Eel, and a Yellow Angler (Frogfish). What other types of salt water fish could go well with these?

  1. I would say a clown fish. They are shy fish but go well with semi-

aggressive fish. They are also a great sight to see.

All those fish will look like a salt water aquarium.

Sure hope you get a clown fish.

  2. squirrelfish

    tangs

    wrasses

    bass

    schooling bannerfish

and you could try an angel, trigger or pufferfish, but they tend to nip at eel tails and lionfish fins

    just to name a few

  3. Some of the larger squirrel fishes and basses (groupers) would be fine. Some of the larger angels could work as well. Fully-grown puffers are possible as well, but you'll get fin-nipping going on with a puffer.

If you could upgrade the tank a little bit more, a fully-grown Naso Tang is an option.

Beware of your eel getting picked on. I wouldn't worry about him being outright eaten, but he might get pretty badly. I personally would consider upgrading to at least a zebra eel, and adding the in the eel before any other fish.
