Question:

Semi-permanent dye on blonde hair?

I'm probably putting waaaay too much thought into this, but here it goes. For the last 5 months I've been dying my hair blonde and suddenly the dye no longer takes to my hair, came up with a charming shade of ginger! So taking that as a hint I figured I'd try a golden brown. But silly me picked up a semi-permanent and I can't take it back. It says it'll wash out within 28 washes, but will that leave my hair some odd colour? Or how long should I wait to put a permanent dye ontop of it? Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance! xx

  1. what is your base colour? (natural)

a semi will not lift your hair colour, it may not make any difference to the colour at all. but has it is ginger you don't want to put any more warmth through it.

with a semi you can colour straight over it so don't worry.

i covered over my blonde 1week ago and its really faded already. it depends on how damaged your hair is already.

semi colours rarely cause major colour boo boos so don't panic.

  2. I've put a permanent on top of a semi only a few days later, when I didn't like the colour. A semi might stain your hair a bit if your hair is very light, you can buy a product that strips out dye if you need to though. Either way, you definitely don't need to wait for all 28 washes before putting a permanent on, it'll take over the top of a semi fine.
