http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Igor-Semshov-c16748 believes Dynamo will reach the Russian Cup final if they beat Zenit St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
Dynamo Moscow will play the Russian Cup quarter-final against Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium on the back of a 5-1 Russian Premier League home defeat against the same opposition earlier this week.
The Dinamiki midfielder, Igor Semshov, has admitted that they have a decent chance to reach the cup final if they defeat the St. Petersburg club in the quarter-final of the cup tournament.
Dynamo managed to reach the round-of-16 after defeating Anzhi Makhachkala 1-0 at home, while Zenit romped past Dynamo Bryansk to reach the quarter-finals by recording a emphatic 2-0 home win.
The Moscow-based club will face the winner between Volga Nizhny Novgorod and Terek Grozny, if they advance to the semi-finals.
Since neither Volga nor Terek possess a decent track record in the Cup tournament, Dynamo are clear favourites to reach the Cup final. Semshov revealed that Dynamo need to end their long wait for a trophy since 1995.
Semshov revealed that the upcoming tie holds immense importance and admitted that the winner between Dynamo and Zenit will probably reach the Russian Cup final. He assured the fans of fighting against the Bomzhi this time around
after their humiliating league defeat.
“We both know the strengths and weaknesses of each other. Zenit defeated us at our home despite their European defeat against Benfica. So, it’s our time to win against them on the away turf.
“With all due respect to Terek and Volga, the winner between Zenit and Dynamo will reach the final.” The 33-year-old veteran midfielder was quoted as saying.
Semshov admitted that Zenit played quality football despite their European defeat against Benfica. He went on to express his desire to help Dynamo claim a European spot this season.
Dynamo need to reclaim the third-spot if they are to claim a European berth. As things stand, Dynamo are at the fourth spot on the league table.
