  1. It's always nice to know what the children will be doing that week. Parents like to know, so then they know what to prepare there children for....not only mentally but ....lets say the kids will be playing with paint. Well we don't want to put bobby in his new shirt. Not only that, but when children see things organized, they tend to be more organized when they are older. It helps many children learn as well....because, later on in life they will need a fitting schedule.

  2. I teach a Reggio program, and can really only get out a newsletter every two weeks. I include little snippets of what the kdis are saying, doing, up-coming activiites, put play clothes on. etc. a good parent/child/school connection.

  3. In my center we send home monthly newsletters that inform the parents of that month's weekly curriculum and any reminders/news.

The first page usually reminds parents to label their children's clothing, bring in spare clothes, any special events like a pajama day or cookout.

The second page is a calendar of what I plan for the children. On each day is a typed "highlight" of the day. So say I'm doing the theme circus. Each day of the week would have 4 things relating to the circus (i.e. elephant ear headbands, balloon experiment, juggling, marble painting cutout balloons).

However you mentioned weekly newsletters. This could be a form of communication between the director to the parents about important topics at the time of the newsletter.

But I'm familiar with our monthly newsletters that we send out that highlights the happenings in the daycare.

  4. Hi Ant,

Most teachers send them home weekly to let parents know and plan for upcoming events such as concerts, trips, or health problems or news. It is so they know your parents have been notified and if they want to plan for it or even help out sometimes, the school will know who they can plan on for help or attendance. It is VERY IMPORTANT for schools and parents to work together for YOUR best education. I hope this helps you understand. Good Luck

  5. So parents can know whats going on at there childs school!

For example the parents should know what the child is learnig about and the activitys happening at the childs school.

  6. Parents should be aware of what is happening in school and there children.

Parents can contribute to the newsletter for the good of their children.

Establish close relationship between community and school.

  7. I guess it depends on the school. If thats what you are going through you should consider yourself lucky. My daughter is in pre-K and I have no clue what goes on in the school. I have to practically (not literally) stalk and  hunt down her teachers to find out.
