Question:

Sending SAT scores.?

Im not completely 100% informed about sending SAT scores. How does it work? -- Especially through collegeboard's online system. Also, I took the SAT on June 7 and I got my scores but Im only 15 so presumably I wouldn't send my scores to colleges yet right? Would I be able to send my scores at a later time or am I screwed for that particular test already? Also, I heard colleges take the best of all your SAT tests so if I do better on another SAT reasoning test, will they take the max scores of both of my tests? How would sending the scores for both tests work? I'm also a non-US citizen (Canadian) by the way, so is the process the same? Thanks for any info.

  1. Collegeboard explains it on its site: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/test... . You can send scores whenever you want, but you don't have to be worrying about it just now! :) Colleges have deadlines to send in scores for college bound high school seniors.

When you sign up for the SAT tests, Collegeboard lets you send your scores for free to 4 different recipients, including colleges, universities, and scholarships. This is pretty nice considering that when you order scores to be sent later, it's $9.50/sent report (paid with a credit card). Each report includes all the SAT tests you took, including every Reasoning test and any Subject tests.

Because the report includes all the scores, colleges can (and generally will) look at your best scores on all the Reasoning tests you took. Specific colleges have different policies. So you're not screwed for that test since you can re-take it if you don't like your score. :) Or you could take the ACT & send only the ACT scores you like rather than the comprehensive SAT report.

It'll seem less complicated later. :) I'm not sure how it works for students outside the US, but I don't think it's different.

    Good luck!

  2. You can send the score whenevr you want to.And colleges will take the best of yout scores.

  3. -If you're 15 you shouldn't send scores anywhere. Only send scores when you're actually applying to universities.

-You can send your scores at a later time.

-SOME colleges take the best sections ever. For example, if you scored W: 500 CR:800 M:800 on one test and W:800 CR:500 M:500 on another test, certain schools would record your SAT score as a 2400 (800+800+800). OTHER schools take your best score from ONE sitting.

-When you request that a score report be sent to a school through collegeboard.com, ALL scores that you have ever received are automatically sent.
