Sending a PS3 to Sony to exchange?

Ok, back on the Aug. 15th I sent in my original SCRATCH FREE PS3 to Sony in the SERVICE DEPT. to have it fixed because my blu-ray went dead. When I got my PS3 back it was working but it had SCRATCHES all over it! So I called Sony and asked and spoke with a customer service supervisor. I was pretty irate and explained everything to him. So he said that he would have another shipping box sent out to me and this time the PS3 will be sent to the EXCHANGE DEPT. and I should get a PS3 back with no scratches and be in shape cosmetically. I am due to receive the shipping box today and shoot over the UPS store and have it shipped. My question is should I go ahead and ship it because I've heard and read so many stories about getting a 2nd one back and it's going to be worst? The one thing that reassures me is that it is going to be exchange. But I am still skeptical because the address for the EXCHANGE DEPT. is the same place as the SERVICE DEPT.just different suite numbers. What do you guys think send it in or no?

  1. I hope you got the guy's name and the date and time you spoke so refer to it if comes back in worse shape.

  2. the people who work for sony for the exchange r idiots they convinced me that my ps3 was not right since the fan was loud they told me to put the phone next to the fan and they were like yeah something is wrong send it in and then a week later when i get a diff ps3 to my house back from texas it makes the same sound so the fan normally sounds like that and they made no type of gesture to do anything for the inconvience i would just keep it they might send u a worse 1

  3. If your unhappy with the scratches (as i would be) i'd most certainly ship it.

You only ever read about the horror stories people have had sending there games consoles off, im sure its very rare things go drastically wrong, but its bound to happen, because of the sheer numbers of units involved.

    Good luck mate :)

  4. dude they probably used it to play on their breaks, I will tell you to send it back! just so they learn, don't let them fool you. If people like you do not existed people like us would have to just conform to whatever, and that cant happen so for the sake of all of us who send a ps3 to get it repaired, send it!

and I got one question for you: how long did it take for you to get it back after shipping it???

  5. the top on a ps3 scratches very very easily i gave mine a wipe over, with a specialy made glasses lens cleaner then when i saw a glimpse of it in the sun i was like what the h**l. Cosmetically keep the one you have after a matter of days theyil both end up the same. i coverd mine with the special fome that came in the box, but the plastic is so staticky it collects dust, and the dust scratches it. The  has been many reviews on this but it made out of the same stuff they use on all new hd tvs so the plastic scratches but its not cheap stuff. either way thoe i  keep it in a shelf so youre not suppost to be looking at that just the tv screen. Any way gd look whatever happens. If the scratches are deep and clearly seen like its been knocked on a corner get the new one other wise its a waste of time.

  6. Simple, they gave you a different PS3, sad if you had so much memories with your other PS3.
