Sending a parcel or hamper from UK to friends now living in Thailand?

I very much look forward to receiving some genuine replies to my questions.

Are there any special rules and regulations, that have to be followed, before I send a parcel or hamper, with typical Scottish/British non-perishable foodstuffs, to Thailand.

Do you know of any Company in the United Kingdom that specialises in providing this service?

My friends, a British husband and wife, who now live in Thailand, have always been so kind to me, so for Christmas, I thought that it would be a kind gesture to send them a gift from Scotland.

Incidentally, they have both a P.O. Box address and a regular postal address in Thailand.

I very much look forward to receiving some genuine replies to my questions.

  1. I send the accasional parcel to Thailand usually containing clothes like jeans and tops, etc. I use the Royal Mail and it usually costs me about £20. You do have to list on the box what's inside and it takes between 4 and 7 days to arrive and this method has never failed me yet. Take care.

  2. Hi there xx

Hope this helps you a bit...

You can send a parcel to Thailand through your local post office using a service called "Parcelforce International". The maximum weight of the parcel you can send is 30kg, and I think it usually takes between 7/10 days to arrive if you use the International Standard service. Thailand is in Zone 11, so you would be best off asking at the Post Office what the delivery price would be, as I think the prices depend upon the weight of the parcel itself. Also, they will be able to tell you the last posting days before Christmas etc.

There is also a list of items that you can't send through the post (dangerous items such as explosives, firearms etc), and you will need to sign a customs declaration form to state that none of the above are included in your parcel. Make sure your parcel is securely wrapped in bubble wrapping and put in a strong box, taped up tight so the contents can't move about and get damaged. You will need to include the recipient's phone number and PO Box number on it too, but I am sure that they will be able to help you at the Post Office. If you are including an alcohol present - the alcohol content in the bottle cannot be more than 70 percent, and alcohol that will incur excise duty also cannot be sent.

So that would be my best suggestion - go to your local Post Office and ask about the Parcelforce International service!

Hope this is useful to you!

  3. I know that if you send a parcel to Austrailia, you have to list everything that is in it, a bit of a shame if it is a xmas present

  4. TRY "DHL"

they do an international delivery service and should cost about £200

  5. Good for you. As long as what your sending isnt hazardous it should be ok. Fed ex is great anywhere, everywhere.
