Hi, I am wanting to send a SASE letter, but I want to send it to someone in America, and I know that they don't accept our stamps over there so I don't know what to do, I then read about International coupons, but I then read that the receiver has to go to the post office to post office and exchange them, but I want to send a letter which they will receive and then them open it do what they have to do, put it in the SASE envelope I have provided and put it in the post box.

Is there a way for me to do this, so that the receiver doesn't have to pay anything or go to the post office, just open it and post it straight back to me.

Thanks

  1. Take the envelope to your local post office. They will advise you.

  2. Hi.  You can actually buy American stamps at the post office.  Buy enough for your SASE.  Any Canada Post outlet has American postage on hand.

  3. You can find out at www.usps.com how much your letter is going to cost to mail from US to you, wherever you are (you didn't say).  If the cost is to be a dollar or less, send a one dollar bill inside the envelope.  You can get one at the foreign exchange of any bank.  You aren't really supposed to send cash in the mail, but I expect it would arrive safely.  The person at the other end would still have to go and buy a stamp, but may be able to do that someplace other than a post office.  In Ireland and UK and many other places I have been, newsagents often have permits to sell stamps.

Or ask someone you trust, going to US, to mail it to the other person after arrival there.

Or see if you can locate a cousin or other relative over there, send your letter to them and ask them to sort out the stamp  ......
