Sending books through USPS?

I have an average sized book (paperback) that I need to send through media mail with the U.S. Postal Service. I was curious if I could wrap it with a paper bag (like Safeway bag without the writing showing obviously) instead of going out and buying an envelope that's probably too big for this anyway?

I do that all the time. Make sure it is secure (i.e. a couple of layers of tight-fitting paper and lots of tape).
