Sending goods in tubes to the USA

Question

i want to send a spicy paste as a gift to a friend in the USA. i live in europe.. now i was warned that the us postal services or customs will not let this pass cause tubes could be containing explosives and such. is this correct? and what if i send it in a jar?

You have to consult the carrier who would ship it for you...  They are the ones who have the real insight....

To play it safe put it in a heavy duty plastic bag,The jar could break.
