Sending mail to boot camp (and missing information)

Question

My boyfriend left a message on his parents answering machine with his address at boot camp. However they are confused by some missing information...

In his message he said:

Pvt ________________ (his name)

3rd Platoon

Alpha 134

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out if I need anything more to get mail to him. I've been told over and over to send mail exactly like the address given however the address he gave us didnt even include a city! We think his call got cut off.

He's at Fort Jackson in South Carolina if that helps!

Write the address exactly like this (with his name of course), and I promise you it will get to him:

Pvt John Doe

3rd Platoon

A Co, 1/34th IN Regt.

Fort Jackson, South Carolina 29207

The "Alpha" is the company (A Co.) and the 1/34 is his training battalion and regiment.

At the link below, I have posted the 1/34th's website that has contact information for the training companies in the 1/34th Infantry (IN) Regiment.  His company is Alpha Company.

Also, military bases are treated like cities when it comes to addressing letters.

well my boyfreind is off to boot camp as we speak too in san antonio tx.. what branch is he in?? i can help you a lil more if i know more. mine in the air force and you can go right on the airforce website and call the front desk rep and they can look him up and give you his address...

It's what Eagle 1 said above.  But if you want to verify the information he left on the answering machine you can call Fort Jackson Installation Operations Center at  [phone].  You will need his SS # to give them but they can help you make sure you have the right address.
