Sending money?

I want to send a check to someone abroad. I don't want to do this via western union or money gram. I guess what I'm asking is do I need some kind of special international check, or can I just send a normal check?

You can send a regular check but it could be worth less if the exchange rate drops before they get it. You should really call your bank and ask for the foreign currency department. They can do an exchange for you and have the check issued in that country's currency. Much easier for the person you are sending it to as well.
