I went to Cuba for march break and we (my family) met this really nice Cuban who was working at the resort, he spoke really good english (and french) and we asked for his address because we wanted to send him stuff that he might need (that he can't get in cuba)

do you think if we sent him a sweater it would actually reach him, or would the government or someone else stop it from coming through

thankss

  1. I understand that if you ship items DHL there is a better chance that your person will receive the package. The aternative is to find someone going to that area and get them to deliver it for you. Good Luck and Bless you for helping right a wrong you saw there.

  2. DHL will get your shipment there no problem. With the tracking number and insurance on your package, it will be fine. And the government will not interfere with that.

DHL is not affected by U.S. embargos or sanctions and will ship to Cuba.

But, yes, as Beardo mentioned, it will naturally cost a little more if it's a heavier package.

  3. Don't send it by regular post service , the majority never arrives at destination. The only reliable and allowed courrier service in Cuba is DHL . http://www.dhl.com

They have a tracking service and you get a receipt ...but

expensive for bigger parcels , I only use it for documents, CDs , photos etc. Be prepared to pay more for the transport cost than the value of the stuff you send. Above a certain value I believe 100 or 150 $ you have to include an invoice with the quantities and the value off the content for the customs. And don't try to include any other stuff in the parcel, the parcel has to left open for inspection and they X - ray

everything you send. I heard from people hinding money in shoes and between photos ....everything was found ..and returned by DHL. You can also search for tourists going to Cuba and ask them to deliver the goods

  4. It wouldn't be the government, but someone stealing it en route. Normal post is unreliable at the best of times - the recommendation is not to send anything of value.

DHL is more reliable - but could be quite expensive for a bulky item.
