Sendmylovetorose certain about the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes after the Royal Ascot incident
Missing the Albany Stakes at the Royal Ascot after being restless and going down in the stalls, did not impact the confidence of the Andrew Oliver conditioned bay filly, Sendmylovetorose.
The unfortunate incident did not even hamper the trust that the connections have in their unbeaten filly.
Today, she holds an entry in the Group 2 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes (Fillies). The six furlong race will be contested by twelve, two-year-old runners at Newmarket.
The prize money at stake is £34,026.
The two-year-old bay filly cracked open her racing career by declaring dominance in the Lynn Lodge Stud European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden on 9th June, 2012 at Navan race course over six furlongs on soft ground.
With jockey, C. O’Donoghue onboard, she chased the leaders, and three furlongs down, the two-year-old was reeling in for the wire from the third. She had the final furlong all to herself as she dwelled upon the 5 ½ lengths lead.
Finishing right behind was the runner-up, Strapless.
The time between the missed race at the Royal Ascot and, the Group 3 Grangecon Stud Stakes (Fillies) was the most agonizing for the connections as they were highly doubtful if their star filly had picked up any ill effects after getting stuck in the stall which eventually led to withdrawing her from the Albany Stakes.
The connections were in for a surprise.
Bahamian Bounty’s two-year-old daughter was nothing less than charismatic after breaking from the third stall guided by jockey, C. O’Donoghue. The duo knew that winning the race would not be as easy as it was during their previous team-up at Navan.
Windy Gulch foaled got a chance to lead only after the track distance was more than half-way down. She held on firmly to the lead, and exploited it the most inside the final furlong. The two-year-old led the track of seven by 1 ¼ lengths.
The favourite entry of the race, True Verdict, ended just next to the best while, Slope, filled up the third position behind the winner.
The John Gildea owned will leave from the seventh stall today with the same jockey who has shared the back-to-back success.
