i know ive asked like 3 million questions in the past 24 hours but i have another...the 6-9 year old Senegal parrot i got yesterday is acting strange. Yesterday he was as sweet as could me, sitting on my shoulder and talking to me...today he is hissing at me when i come near him and trying to bite me! why? i went and go highlights today, could it be that he doesn't like how my hair smells? i even put the shirt i had on yesterday in case it was the color of the shirt i had on (turquoise) Why would he be so sweet one day and then a meanie the next?

Thanks

  1. Stress

  2. It's entirely possible that he's afraid of the new highlights in your hair :-)

Strange as it may sound, birds notice the smallest things and if they *perceive* it as scary then it IS scary.

Give him a little time to get used to it.  (And if your hair still smells from the products, please go wash your hair and air it out a little.  Birds have very sensitive respiratory systems :-)
