Senior Closed Doubles: Mark Hood and Keiran Power overpower Brydon Banks and Chris Dickson
Mark Hood and Keiran Power, the experienced shuttlers of New Zealand, delivered wonderful performance and defeated their team-mates Brydon Banks and Chris Dickson in a thrilling Men’s Doubles fight at the Senior Closed Doubles 2012 on Tuesday, August 7,
in New Zealand.
The in-form Mark and Kieran, who showed a wonderful performance throughout their campaign in the tournament, continued their positive run as they overpowered Brydon and Chris in a mouth-watering battle.
The aggressive Mark and Kieran remained unlucky in the opening set as they lost it with a tight score. However, they showed their brilliance on court and played dominating badminton to take the following both games and they ended up the contest in rubber
sets with a good score.
In the meanwhile, Brydon and Chris opened their campaign in a positive manner but failed to maintain their upper hand on court and lost the match to Mark and Kieran in three games with a respectable score on the board.
In the first game, both pairs showed their tremendous skills on court as they played with precision and progressed closely on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Mark and Kieran tried their best to set up a reasonable lead but they could not push their rivals on back foot and eventually lost the game with a tight 19-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Mark and Kieran changed their tactics and started to dominate the pace of rallies while working fast at net. Until the break, they were slightly ahead on score board.
After the break, Mark and Kieran continued their positive play as they did not let their opponents to dictate the pace of rallies and won the game with a reasonable 21-18 score on the board.
In the deciding game, Mark and Kieran showed a tremendous performance when they played with impressive control and took an amazing lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Mark and Kieran remained focused and positive as they did not commit any mistake and easily wrapped up the game by putting up a spectacular 21-13 score on the board.
Mark and Kieran won this Men’s Doubles battle in three sets with a reasonable score of 19-21, 21-18 and 21-13.
